Bipasha Sen Gupta

The Pottery Shed

artist work

Bipasha Gupta is a self-taught artist whose relationship with art began almost instinctively—painting as a child, and later finding her way to clay, a medium that felt both ancient and immediate in her hands.

Raised in an army family, her early years were marked by movement—shifting geographies, unfamiliar landscapes, and fleeting homes. These constant transitions cultivated a quiet attentiveness, a way of noticing textures, forms, and the subtle imprints of place. This sensitivity continues to echo through her work.

Her practice moves fluidly between making and sharing. Over the years, she has worked with NGOs, government bodies, and private institutions, engaging with art as a space for dialogue, learning, and collective experience—whether in classrooms, communities, or corporate settings.

An alumna of the Delhi Blue Pottery Trust, Bipasha has spent over fifteen years in an ongoing conversation with clay. Her process is intuitive and responsive—less about control, more about listening. Surfaces carry memory; forms emerge, shift, and settle.

Now based in Goa, close to the sea, her work draws deeply from its presence—the pull of tides, the repetition of waves, the erosion and reshaping of edges over time. Her ceramics often hold this rhythm: fluid, imperfect, and quietly in motion.

From her studio, she creates and teaches, continuing to explore clay not just as a material, but as a way of being—rooted, yet constantly changing.
