Studio Mad About Clay
Mrinmoyee Paul, an architect in a former professional life was always drawn to clay but managed to indulge her interest only later in life at the studio of her mentor, Madhur Sen. She came into clay by chance, and stayed by choice - it has become almost a compulsion to create ever since.
She loves to create both - sculpture as well as functional ware and experiments with various surface textures and colours on her forms. She believes that while form is very important, its surface treatment in terms of colours, textures and glazes is equally so.
The forms she favours are either rugged or fluid, with their surfaces being lightly to heavily textured. She attempts to harmonize form, texture and colour in her creations to achieve visual and tactile appeal.
Currently, she works out of her shared studio space named " Studio Mad about Clay" in Shahpur Jat, Delhi.
