The Bookworm's Wheel
Shweta Madnawat, is an engineer turned potter, from Gurgaon. She combines her love of geometric simplicity and functionality in her creations. Inspired by minimalism, clean lines, and structure, her work explores the delicate balance between form and function. In the midst of playing all the various roles in her life, she had a desire to redirect her energy to a creative medium. There was always an artist in her that was looking for a meaningful expression. That was when clay found her, she started her training a couple of years ago with studio Re4clay and hasn't looked back since then.
I have coveted being an artist for most of my life, always exploring different creative mediums, with my full time corporate career. But lack of time always put an end to it. And then I touched clay, and I have never looked back since then. For me, working with clay symbolizes the coming together of the "Pancha Bhootas", the earth, water, fire, wind and ether (space). It is my way of staying connected to nature that molds us and breathes life into us. It reminds me to stay mindful and centered, no matter how chaotic life gets. Clay is my spiritual practice, creative outlet, and a channel to bring life to my imagination. Each piece that I make aims to add a little bit of beauty, and magic to wherever it goes.
