Tapestry of Whispers is a ceramic installation that looks at womanhood through layers of roles, experiences, and quiet shifts that shape who we become over time.
Each piece is made by hand, carrying small marks and drawings that aren’t planned or precise. They come from memory, from instinct, from moments that stay. Up close, these marks feel almost like fragments—soft, scattered, and personal. Together, they begin to hold a larger presence.
There’s no single story here. It builds slowly, like a tapestry it has different strands sitting next to each other, sometimes in tension, sometimes in rhythm.
Clay plays an important role. It responds to touch, holds every pressure, and then fixes it through firing. What is fluid in the making becomes permanent , much like the experiences we carry.
The work sits easily in a home art corner or workplace. Quiet but present. It doesn’t demand attention, but the longer you spend with it, the more it reveals.
Each piece is individually handcrafted, and subtle variations in form, texture, colour, and finish are to be expected. These unique nuances are a testament to the artist's process, ensuring that your piece is truly one-of-a-kind.
Ela Mukherjee is a ceramic artist based in Delhi, with nearly three decades of experience working with clay.
